For by grace are ye
saved through faith;
and that not of
yourselves: it is the
gift of God:
Ephesians 2:8
“After twenty-seven years of darkness and sinful living, God had
revealed his saving power from sin by the blood that was shed by
his only begotten son “ Jesus Christ”. Through the convicting
power of the Holy Spirit, God had brought me to a place of
hopelessness and despair and saved me by his grace.
My early 20’s were spent chasing after the things of this world,
the flesh, and the devil. I was not raised in church and had never
opened a Bible in my life. My interests were in fulfilling the lust of
the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life (I John 2:16). My life
had plunged into the depths of sin by the age of twenty-one. I
began to involve myself in the sins of lust, ecstasy, cocaine,
steroids and alcohol (party scene). I had gotten to the point where
I could not satisfy myself and this lifestyle began to consume me.
Sin is only a pleasure for a season!
At the age of twenty-seven God had put a man in my life that was a
Preacher of the Gospel of Christ.
Through his witness of living a life separated from the world and
the change that was going on his life, I began to desire what he
had. As I began to fall deeper and deeper into darkness, he was
rising above in the light of Christ. I came to a point in my life
where I was broken and had nowhere else to go. The pleasures of
sin could no longer satisfy me! I met with this man of God one day
on the side of the road for answers and he opened up the Word of
God, and showed me the only answer, Jesus Christ the Lord. God
saved me that day August, 4th, 2004.
Jesus saved me from my sin and gave me a desire to live a Holy
life before a thrice Holy God. My life purpose was changed and
God called me to preach in October of 2004. The Bible says in II
Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are
become new.”
My life has been changed by the power of God, He has given me a
joy and freedom that is not of this world. Freedom from sin and a
joy that only comes from serving the King of Kings and the Lord of
Lord’s. The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10) and
where the Spirit of the Lord, is there is Liberty (II Corinthians 3:
17).”
If God saved James from his addictions and the
bondage of sin, God can save you.
